Although a bit formal (in the CS sense) in its presentation this is a

good introductory paper in ontology. It provides overview and

definition of ontology and conceptualization, and the use of

ontology in information systems. By using information system in

the broadest sense, the paper provides insight as to how any

computer system can benefit from the use of ontology. The paper

discusses the use of ontology in information system from a

temporal perspective (development time and runtime) and

structural perspective (database, UI, and code).
